The Scarborough North Sleep Disorders Clinic is a
government approved centre, located in Scarborough, closest intersection
being Kennedy Road and Finch Avenue. We receive referrals from family
physicians and a wide variety of medical specialists including respirologists,
general internists, cardiologists, neurologists, psychiatrists and
ear, nose and throat specialists.
There are a wide range of both daytime (awake) and night-time complaints
that might suggest that a overnight sleep study would be helpful
in diagnosing your problem which could lead to effective treatment.
The common symptoms indicating the need for a sleep study include
snoring at night, witnessed pauses or gasp or strange noises while
you sleep, excessive daytime sleepiness and early morning headaches.
A deterioration in your daytime functioning without obvious reason
may be due to a sleep related problem that can only be detected
and diagnosed by an overnight sleep study.
We have a new fully computerized clinic where you will interact
with a friendly fully trained sleep specialist technologist. You
will sleep overnight in a private room with full access to the facilities
that you normally require at home during the night. Using the most
up to date equipment, we are able to see, hear and monitor the nature
and quality of your sleep during the night. We are also able to
easily and safely monitor you breathing and heart beat without any
discomfort or risk to you.
The study is done by real time analysis and a full report is sent
to your referring doctor and family doctor after the study is reviewed
by one of our physician sleep specialists. There is a medical doctor
with sleep medicine expertise on call each night. We have a clean,
private well lighted clinic situated as a storefront in an outdoor
mall with free parking immediately in front of the clinic.
The clinic is only 3/8th of a mile from The Scarborough Hospital-Grace
Division.
THIS SLEEP CLINIC PROVIDES OVERNIGHT MONITORED SLEEP STUDIES ON
A REFERRAL BASIS ONLY.
