Please read the following instructions and try to observe
them as closely as possible:
- Remember
to bring your Ontario Health card.

Do not drink any alcoholic beverages for 12 hours prior
to the sleep study.
- Do
not consume caffeine after 6 p.m. on the night of your sleep
study, i.e. coffee, colas, tea, and chocolate.
- Bring
all your medications and take them as usual. Unless advised
by the doctor.
If you are on Nasal CPAP, please bring your equipment to
the sleep study.

If you are diabetic, please bring a snack with you, as food
is not available at the clinic.
- Please
leave your valuables at home. Do not nap the day of our
sleep study.
- Please
bring pyjamas and personal hygiene items to the sleep study.
You may also bring a favourite pillow if necessary. A Walkman
and reading material is advisable, in case you may need
to wait.
- Overnight
parking is available immediately beside the clinic.
- Prior
to leaving for your study, please call the technician and
inform them of your arrival.
- Please
press Door Bell on arrival.
- If
you have any further questions or require further clarification
on the instructions, please give us a call.

Indications
of Sleep Disorders
- Excessive
daytime sleepiness.
- Trouble
falling or staying asleep.
- Irritability.
- Loud
snoring.
- Morning
headaches.
- Depression,
reduced sense of well-being.
- Forgetfulness.
- Lack
of energy and motivation.
- Leg
cramps or continuous, uncontrollable urge to move legs.
- Impotence.
- Anxiety.
- Difficulty
learning or concentration.
- Obesity.
- High
blood pressure.
- Awakening
with a choking feeling or grasping for air.
- Racing
heartbeat during the night.
- Pauses
in breathing during the night.
- Restlessness
while sleeping.
- Night-time
sweating.
- Frequent
awakenings.
- Loss
of muscle control while laughing or angry.

Symptoms
are often reported not by the patients, but by his or her bed partner.
Definite treatment is now available for many of these symptoms.
